Voices.com Apologized... Now What?
Mar 14, 2024INTERIM CEO ADDRESSES VO COMMUNITY
Imagine my surprise when I showed up to watch The Famous Online Casting Panel at VO Atlanta recently and found Jay O'Connor, the Interim CEO of Voices.com sitting on stage preparing to take questions.
The panel did NOT disappoint.
Thank you, J. Michael Collins for organizing it, and the Anna Collins for making it a part of the VO Atlanta lineup.
A lot of voice actors have some pretty strong feelings about Voices[dot]com (myself included), and most of those feelings are not positive. Previous management seemingly did everything humanly possible to alienate the voice over community... their very customers... through unethical business practices.
Many top talent abandoned the site, and representatives from Voices[dot]com were basically ousted from participating in industry events.
Is that about to change?
I'll confidently say, a first step has been taken.
In this episode, I share a few thoughts and takeaways from the panel, along with a cautious optimism for changes to come that started with an apology to the community from the CEO.
